The Reading First Significant Progress ReportGiven that this is the first year that Significant Progress could affect local education agencies, it is important that you understand what constitutes significant progress in Reading First. At least half the schools in an LEA must have an RFAI that is above one standard deviation below the cohort mean to achieve significant progress. Letters will be sent to cohort 1 and 2 LEAs that have not met significant progress. The letters will explain the appeal process and a timeline for this process. Warning letters will also be sent to districts in cohorts 1, 2, and 3 if they may be in danger of not meeting significant progress for next year. Information is also available on CDE's Reading First Achievement Index Definition web site. We are always available for answering your questions at any time regarding this process.
